EDENWALD SELECTS MARK BEGGS AS NEW CEO

Edenwald is proud to announce that after a broad national search, Mark Beggs joined the not-for-profit senior care community as its new Chief Executive Officer on January 7, 2019. Edenwald’s history of caring goes back more than a century. Begun in 1881 as The General German Aged People’s Home of Baltimore, the organization has continuously evolved to meet the lifestyle and healthcare needs of all its residents. Today Edenwald welcomes those from all backgrounds, races, faiths and ethnicities and serves over 600 seniors ranging from active adults to residents requiring compassionate, experienced memory care.

Board Chair Frank Palumbo said, “Our search for a new CEO was very thorough and Mark emerged as our number one candidate. We are all very excited about Mark taking over the reins at Edenwald and we have confidence that his skill set will enable us to continue to fulfill our mission of being the top provider of senior services in Maryland.”

Originally from Western Pennsylvania, Mark Beggs has almost 30 years in the senior living profession, serving in a variety of senior management positions within continuum of care organizations. Most recently Mark was the Executive Director of Westminster Suncoast, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located in St. Petersburg, FL for 7.5 years, where he was responsible for the transformation of the campus, overseeing multiple renovation projects and expanding the community’s services. Mark excels at building extensive relationships within the community and bringing inter-generational groups together. He developed multiple partnerships across his tenure, including an exciting collaboration with the local college to provide lifelong learning opportunities to the residents. Prior experience includes service as Vice President of Operations/Chief Operating Officer of Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network, located in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mark holds a Master’s of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Social Work, is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in both Florida and Ohio, and has served on multiple local, regional, and state level Boards. He is married and is the very proud father of the most beautiful boy in the whole world, Elijah.
