Volunteer at Edenwald
Student Volunteer Opportunities
At Edenwald, volunteers like you are a vital part of our non-profit senior living community. There are many opportunities for you to lend your energy and enthusiasm to our community. As a volunteer, you can engage with residents through a range of fun, enriching activities, from playing card games and calling bingo numbers to assisting with special programs and conducting one-on-one social visits.
Volunteers are even encouraged to bring their own individual talents to share with our residents. Musicians, artists, gardeners, travel experts, and more— your diverse talents are welcome here.
Towson-area students (ages 16 and up) are welcome additions to our intergenerational volunteer community. Towson-area high school students can earn Maryland service-learning hours as Edenwald volunteers, while college students can gain invaluable experience and insights for their future professions by working with older adults. Through our volunteer experience students will:
- Share compassion and empathy by showing genuine care for residents and understanding their abilities
- Learn about patience and adaptability by connecting with seniors with a focus on each individual’s strengths
- Show reliability and respect by arriving as scheduled, being positive, and honoring the privacy of each older adult
- Practice active engagement by being proactive in offering help or starting conversations with elders
Pet Therapy Visits
We welcome volunteers from Pets on Wheels and other pet therapy-certified animals to visit at Edenwald. All pets must first be approved by Pets on Wheels or other verified pet therapy programs. Certification and health records must be submitted prior to visiting our residents.
